Standard english

We offer six different levels of English tuition based on your level of competency as reflected in your Placement Test. The levels include Beginners, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and Advanced. On arrival each student sits an English Placement test which appropriately places the student in the correct level of tuition for which classes commence the following morning at 9.15am. This comprises of both a written and aural exam. The placement test is followed by the provision of a Welcome Pack, Orientation and Walking Tour of Dublin City Centre. The Cutting Edge suite of textbooks is provided free of charge to each student for use in their class and are available to purchase at a discounted price from reception.

You can choose to enrol in the Standard English Course for morning sessions from Monday to Friday. Afternoon sessions may also be available. Cultural activities are usually scheduled in the afternoon. There are 20 hours tuition per week in a standard course.The maximum number of students in each class is 15 though the average class size is 8 people. Beginners and Advanced courses only take place on specified dates; however you will always have the option of joining a class at the next level.

If you choose the intensive English Course you will follow the same programme as the Standard English Course but with additional tuition so as to study 25 hours tuition a week which includes two additional afternoon sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday.

Initially classes concentrate on course book work through the use of the ‘Cutting Edge’ textbook.  Other classes maximise the use of conversational pieces which are designed to improve your spoken English through the use of debates, discussions and multi-media.  Our teachers ensure there is an interactive element so you receive ample opportunity to practise your spoken English.

Business English

Our Business English course follows the standard course in the mornings and two individual lessons in the afternoons in small focused groups on a topic of your choice. This course is ideally suited to the professional who wishes to acquire specific knowledge of the English Language for their chosen career or area of interest.

Business Professionals can choose to study the English terminology of their choice whether working in the Banking, Insurance, Finance or Accountancy fields. These include conducting meetings, writing letters, conducting formal business communications, etc. Medical practitioners can study English for medical purposes where one can practise delivering medical papers, conducting meetings and interviews, etc.

You will be assigned a teacher for the afternoon session who will complete with you a Needs Analysis Form where you can clarify your requirements and your expectations. The teacher will then plan your sessions to meet and fulfil your needs so that you achieve your objectives.

Cambridge examination preparation

The Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses are designed to prepare you for one of the following exams, the First Certificate in English (F.C.E.), the Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) and the Cambridge Proficiency in English (C.P.E.). A certificate from Cambridge ESOL tells people a great deal about you and what you can do. It is recognised as proof of your language abilities by more than 10,000 employers, universities and government bodies around the World. Exam sessions are held in University College Dublin (UCD) and assistance should be sought through the Director of Studies when registering for exams. Examination fees are not included in the course fees while the examinations are held every 4 months in general and registration should be 14 weeks prior to the exam date. When choosing the correct exam to pursue it is advisable that you arrive a week prior to when the course commences at Infinity Business College so that we can properly assess you and advise you as to what level to pursue. Your level of English will be determined by the Director of Studies following your English placement test and it is only at that point which we will confirm that your level is appropriate for the exam in question. The F.C.E course is suitable for students who have an Upper Intermediate level of English while the C.A.E course is suited to students with an advanced level. Cambridge ESOL exams are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and is easy to make comparisons with other qualifications.

Students normally attend a 13 week, 25 hours tuition per week CPC course followed by the examination.Your Cambridge exam preparation course will comprise of morning English tuition followed by exam tutorial sessions held two afternoons a week. As part of this package host family accommodation is arranged for 14 weeks.

Our Cambridge Examination courses only take place if we have a minimum of 8 students for each level. The maximum number of students per class is 15 but is normally 8.

TOEFL/IELTS Preparation Course

To gain entry to University degrees in Ireland or the UK you will require an IELTS / TOEFL certificate. IELTS exams take place at specified exam centres every two to three months. For current exam dates at UCD click here. TOEFL exams can be taken online for the appropriate link click here.

Both courses are available to people with at least an Intermediate level of English. The courses are twelve week, 25 hours tuition a week courses.

A minimum of seven people are required for the course to run thus it is advised you book the course well in advance and receive confirmation that your booking has been accepted prior to booking flights. Examination fees are not included in the course fees.

Should you wish to sit the exams while in Ireland you should seek the assistance of our Director of Studies who will assist you with your exam registration. Your course takes place five mornings a week and two afternoons a week, Tuesday and Thursday.  

You will join the Standard English course in the mornings and in the afternoons focus entirely on exam preparation and exam techniques. Practice exams will be given to you on a regular basis and you will be guided on your results. A study plan will be designed for you on enrolment so you acheive your exam objectives with regard to your IELTS or TOEFL preparation.

The English Au Pair Programme is designed for females or males of 18 to 27 years of age who have formal or informal experience of childcare. Candidates should be of good health and references should be provided where appropriate. They should have at least a Pre-Intermediate level of English and enjoy the company of children.

Successful participants who enrol in the English Au Pair Programme will live with the family. They can expect the following;

- Welcome pack (including details of au pairs in your area)
- Your own private room
- All meals provided
- Be treated as an equal by the host family
- Ongoing support from the placement agency
- Between €100 and €200 pocket money per week
- Au pair certificate and reference at the end of your stay

There are three options for the English Au Pair programme:

Our English Work Study programme involves you availing of our Work Placement programme. Our Work Placement officer will assist you in CV preparation and preparing for Interviews. She will also set up interviews for you with at least three companies so that you acquire work experience in an English Speaking company. This will assist you in seeking a job when you return to your home country and also help you to experience professional life. Our objective is to ensure you have a positive experience in Ireland and enjoy your travels around Europe. Student welfare is our primary concern and staff are helpful and encouraging at all times. It should be noted your level of English will need to be at least Intermediate to succeed at work placement interviews.

There are three options for the English Work Study programme:

(a) 4 week tuition and 6 week work placement. Cost: €850
