Certificate in Business Studies (FETAC)
Whatever career a person is involved in a qualification in Business Studies is of
great value. If you become a surgeon, a teacher, or a pilot you will be required
to manage resources and people. An entrepreneur will have to juggle all of these
resources and maximise the return from each. An understanding of finance will assist
you in dealing competently with banks and accountants. A Certificate in Business
Studies thus provides the successful participant with a sound basis on which to
build a rewarding career.
Programme Objectives
The objective of this programme is to gain a solid understanding of the major tasks
with which a career in business encounters. The IT and accountancy modules assist
in delivering a level of competency to deal with every day tasks that arise in a
business, in whatever sector.
Course Structure
One year full-time, two days a week 9.30am to 6pm. Holidays are scheduled on Public
Holidays and each Christmas, Easter & Summer. The student timetable is available
on enrolment or on request. Course fees include registration fees, study manuals
& exam fees.
Fetac assessment entails a combination of assignments, skills demonstrations and exams. Please also note that independent learning outside of class time will be required to complete assigned work. Learners will be required to have access to computing facilities outside of class time in order to continue independent study as well as complete assignments and projects. IB College has a computer room available from 9am – 5.30pm Monday – Friday (excluding holiday periods). Printing facilities are not provided.
SYLLABUS
Work Experience is obligatory and is incorporated into the course. However students
should note that the Work Experience module may take the shape of Simulated Work
Experience.
Award
A FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Business Studies (BBSXX) is awarded to learners who
successfully complete all modules. A record of achievement is awarded to students
who successfully complete one module.

- FETAC Level 4 Certificate (or equivalent)
Career Opportunities
The completion of this course provides an excellent opportunity
for the successful participant to secure a recognised Irish qualification that can
assist in a variety of roles in various sectors of employment. A qualification in
Business Studies allows an individual access to a wide number of careers while allowing
the possibility for further specialisation in the future.
Progression
Successful participants of this course are awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate
and are eligible to progress to further education through Infinity Business College

Protection for learners
Infinity Business College adheres to the Qualifications
(Education & Training) Act of 1999 which addresses Protection for Learners.
The Act seeks to ensure that learners have every opportunity to complete a programme
leading to an award. To fulfil the requirements of this act Infinity Business College
has in place a written agreement with two other providers who will allow Learners
to transfer over to their programmes should Infinity Business College cease to provide
the programme in question. Full details of this arrangement are supplied on enrolment
or on request.
